EV Charger Installation in Mosman & Sydney’s Lower North Shore
Charging your electric vehicle at home should be simple, convenient and suited to your home’s electrical supply.
Montgomery Electrical provides professional home EV charger installation across Mosman, Cremorne, Neutral Bay and Sydney’s Lower North Shore. We install a range of EV chargers and can assess your switchboard, electrical capacity and load-management requirements before installation.
From straightforward single-phase installations to three-phase chargers, solar and battery-equipped homes and properties requiring dynamic load management, we can design an EV charging solution suited to your home and vehicle.
Home EV Charger Installation
A dedicated home EV charger can provide faster and more convenient charging than relying on a standard power point.
Before installation, we consider the charger requirements, available electrical supply, switchboard capacity, cable route and how the vehicle will typically be charged. This allows us to recommend an installation that works with the existing electrical system rather than simply adding another large electrical load.
EV Charger Brands We Install
We install and commission a range of home EV chargers, including chargers from Tesla, Zappi, Ocular, BENY and other leading manufacturers.
If you’ve already purchased a charger, we can assess whether it is suitable for your property. If you haven’t chosen one yet, we can help you understand the important differences and select a charger suited to your vehicle, electrical supply and charging requirements.
Does My Switchboard Have Enough Capacity?
EV chargers can represent a significant additional electrical load, so the existing switchboard and electrical supply should be considered before installation.
We assess your existing electrical installation and available capacity to determine whether the proposed charger can be installed as planned or whether additional measures are required.
Where appropriate, options may include dynamic load management, changes to the charging configuration or an upgrade to existing switchboard equipment.

Single-Phase vs Three-Phase EV Charging
The charging rate available at home depends on several factors, including the vehicle, charger and electrical supply to the property.
Many homes use single-phase EV charging, while properties with a suitable three-phase supply may have additional charging options. However, installing the highest-powered charger isn't always necessary — the right solution depends on your vehicle, driving habits, available capacity and how quickly you actually need to recharge.
We can assess your property and help determine an appropriate charging setup.
EV Charger Load Management
Dynamic load management allows an EV charger to adjust its charging rate based on how much electricity the rest of the property is using.
This can be particularly useful where the available electrical supply is limited. Rather than allowing the EV charger and other large household loads to operate at maximum demand simultaneously, a compatible load-management system can automatically reduce EV charging when required.
We can assess whether load management is appropriate for your property and configure compatible charging equipment as part of the installation.
What happens on the day?
Before starting, we’ll confirm the charger location, cable route and installation requirements.
We’ll install the dedicated electrical circuit and required protection, mount and connect the charger and complete the necessary electrical testing. Where required, we’ll also configure compatible load-management equipment and assist with commissioning the charger.
Once complete, we’ll show you the basics of operating your new home charging setup and leave the work area clean and tidy.
FAQs
How much does it cost to install an EV charger?
1
The cost depends on the charger, distance from the switchboard, cable route, electrical supply and whether additional work such as load management or switchboard upgrades is required.
We’ll assess the installation and provide a clear quote based on your property and charging requirements.
2
Do I need three-phase power for an EV charger?
No. Many home EV chargers can operate on a single-phase supply. Three-phase charging may be available where the property, charger and vehicle support it, but it isn't necessary for every household.
Do I need to upgrade my switchboard?
3
Not necessarily. We assess the existing switchboard and electrical capacity before installation. If the existing installation is suitable, a switchboard upgrade may not be required. Where additional work is needed, we'll explain the available options.
Can you install a Tesla Wall Connector?
4
Yes. We install Tesla Wall Connectors as well as EV chargers from a range of other manufacturers.
Can my EV charger use my solar power?
5
Some EV chargers and energy-management systems can adjust charging based on available solar generation. The options depend on your charger, solar system, battery system and electrical configuration, which we can assess before installation.
